Last week, we had the pleasure of planning and directing a photoshoot for Pre-Tech Precision Machining, a custom machining company in Williston, VT that specializes in the manufacturing of precision parts and components for the aviation, space, military, and biomedical industries.
As part of the redesign of their website, we needed photos to help tell the story of the highly complex and serious business of producing parts for space rockets and fighter jets—all right here in Vermont.
For this shoot, we hired Rick Levinson from RL Photo—his experience photographing industrial manufacturing processes and high-tech machinery was exactly what we needed.
To prepare for the shoot, Stride created a shot list from information gleaned from our Discovery process—an exercise we undergo with new clients to help us better understand their priorities, challenges, and position in their industry. A follow-up facility tour helped us learn about their unique processes and technologies so we could develop an image wishlist that best captures the story of Pre-Tech.
Pre-Tech has more than 50 high-end CNC machines and inspection equipment that complete a variety of tasks, like feeding material, choosing a tool, cutting raw material, and measuring and inspecting the final product. Many of these processes are entirely automated, and some use a combination of automation and skilled CNC machinists, engineers, and inspection staff to produce metal or plastic parts with extreme accuracy.
It was such a thrill to see Pre-Tech in action, and to work with Rick to capture the fascinating process of custom machining.
