We’re getting pretty excited for our client, Special Olympics Vermont, as they get ready for their summer’s biggest event, the Special Olympics USA Games in Seattle!
The USA Games are a grand celebration of the power of sport and inclusion, with thousands of athletes from across the country competing in 14 Olympic-type team and individual sports. Every four years, the Games showcase the abilities of people with intellectual disabilities, promote empowerment and acceptance, and celebrate the transformative nature of Special Olympics.
This year, Vermont will be represented by 19 athletes, Unified partners and coaches, competing in track & field, Unified basketball, and swimming. Events take place at the University of Washington, Seattle University, and the King County Aquatic Center.
A can’t-miss event at the USA Games is the Opening Ceremony, a spectacular affair that includes a Parade of Athletes, the lighting of the Special Olympics Flame of Hope, and musical entertainment by famous artists as well as a 2,000-member choir.
At Stride, our team will be cheering on our Vermont athletes not only from home, but also from the event sidelines, as our co-owner Terri Parent will be volunteering and photographing the Vermont athletes and Unified partners at the USA Games. It’s sure to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for all!
